Why are we no longer offering Power Text AutoPay?

04/29/2011 at 5:31pm EST

Kitty Wireless has discovered a billing issue with the Power Text cards when they are combined with the Standard Plan minute cards.  This is a VERY complex and complicated situation, we will try our best to describe it here, however, it is not going to be easily understood.  We have confirmed this to be an issue with PagePlus.

A Power Text plan by itself is fine, if you were to ONLY have a Power Text plan on your line.  However, if you combine a Power Text plan with a Standard Minute Card, you now have to be VERY careful on how you do those plan renewals.

Example:  Let's say that you have a phone number, and you add a $25.00 Standard PIN to it, and then, you add a $10.95 Power Text AUTOPAY Plan (or vice versa, it does not matter on the order of addition).  Each month we would add a $10.95 Power Text card to your account.

This results in $10.95 being added to your account on the FRONT SIDE and PagePlus removing $10.95 from your account on the back side.  Unfortunately, the entire PagePlus system is built around FIRST IN FIRST OUT, which means they are deducting $10.95 for your power text FROM YOUR $25.00 card and then adding $10.95 to your account on the back end.

Doing this results in your $25.00 cash card (which should give you 400 minutes @ 6 cents per minute) being used for Power Text renewals, when it should be left alone and used for minutes only - and then, after 2 renewals, your cash balance may still show $25.00, but it will be at 12 cents per minute instead of 6 cents.

We do not expect you to understand this - it's very complicated to us as well.  Just know this .... Here is how Power Texting plans WITH Standard Minutes should be done from here forward:

You should add a Power Text 2000 or Power Text 10,000 card ONE TIME to start the plan.  AFTER THAT you should never add another Power Texting Card, you should ONLY add STANDARD cash PINs such as $10, $25, $50 or $80.  By doing this, you will have the PROPER per minute rate always, and your Power Texting plan will renew out of your cash balance.

Doing it this way, you must adhere to the 120 Day or 1 Year cash addition requirements.  Meaning, if you add a $10, $25 or $50 card, you MUST add another within 119 days.  If you add an $80.00 card, you MUST add another within 1 year.  It is VERY important to stay on top of your Expiration Date when you are using this combination.

For existing customers who are CURRENTLY ON Kitty Wireless Power Texting AutoPay plans, we will be closing each of those Power Texting AutoPays over the next 30 days.

This is a VERY complicated situation.  Again, we do not expect you to understand this, on the first read.  Please contact us by writing to support@kittywireless.com if you need further assistance.

We recommend that you signup for FREE REMINDERS using our reminder program so that you can be notified anytime your cash balance drops below certain levels, on any plan that has Power Texting on it, so that you know it's time to replenish your cash balance.

Thanks,
Kitty Wireless

This is the email, below, that we will be sending to each Power Text 2000 or Power Text 10,000 AutoPay customer when their AutoPays come due.

Dear Customer,

We are writing to you to let you know that Kitty Wireless will no longer be processing Power Text 2000 or Power Text 10,000 AutoPays, effective immediately.

We are writing to each customer, one by one, who has either of these two AutoPays with us. You will find an explanation and your options below.

Your Power Text 2000 or Power Text 10,000 AutoPay was due to be renewed today from Kitty Wireless, for the phone number noted above in the subject line.

IF YOU HAVE MULTIPLE POWER TEXT 2000 OR POWER TEXT 10,000 AUTOPAYS WITH US, please understand that we are handling these on a day by day basis. Meaning, the ones that we are cancelling/closing today are the ones that were due for renewal tonight. If you have others, they will be cancelled and closed eventually, as well.

We have refunded any payment for this AutoPay, and we have canceled and closed this AutoPay effective immediately. We will NOT be renewing this Power Texting plan as scheduled. There has been a change in the way Power Texting plans need to be processed, which will make it no longer effective for us to do these on a monthly basis.

===========================================
Talk n Text 1200, Unlimited Talk n Text, and all 120 Day or 1 Year AutoPays are NOT IMPACTED by this new development.

REPEAT: ONLY Power Text 2000 or Power Text 10,000 AutoPays are impacted by this new development.
===========================================

Effective immediately, the ONLY time you should add a Power Text 2000 or Power Text 10,000 PIN to your account is when you are FIRST activating that plan on your line. Once the plan has been activated, you should ONLY use Standard PIN Cash Cards ($10, $25, $50 or $80) to keep your cash balance at the appropriate level needed for PagePlus to debit your cash balance each month to renew your Power Texting plan.

If you have a Power Text 2000 plan, you will need to add the appropriate cash value of PINs to keep your cash balance at or above $10.95 in order to allow that plan to renew the next month. You can do this by adding a $25.00 PIN once every 2 months, but please be aware that this cash balance MUST STAY THERE in order for the renewals to take place.

If you have a Power Text 10,000 plan, you will need to add the appropriate cash value of PINs to keep your cash balance at or above $15.00 in order to allow that plan to renew the next month. You can do this by adding a $25.00 PIN once every month, but please be aware that this cash balance MUST STAY THERE in order for the renewals to take place.

If you also use your phone for voice minutes, you will need to add additional monies beyond those noted above to allow for voice usage. If you ALWAYS want a 6 cent per minute rate, you should ALWAYS add $25.00 cards. If you ALWAYS want a 5 cent per minute rate, you should ALWAYS add $50.00 cards. And if you ALWAYS want a 4 cent per minute rate, you should ALWAYS add $80.00 cards - whenever your balance gets low.

We are seeing too many Power Texting AutoPays not getting renewed the next morning because funds are being used by the customers overnight, preventing the renewal - and then many customers look to us to fix this at our expense, which we cannot do, since it is not our fault. We cannot afford to continue to fix Power Text plans at our expense.

Talk n Text 1200, Unlimited Talk n Text, and all 120 Day or 1 Year AutoPays are NOT IMPACTED by this new development.

At this point, since we have refunded the fee for this Autopay, and canceled the renewal for today, you should do the following:

1. Pull a line status on your phone number from this link: http://www.kittywireless.com/pageplus/phonestatus.html

2. Whatever your cash balance is, you may need to add additional money using ONE TIME $10, $25, $50 or $80.00 cards to bring your account level above $10.95 or $15.00, depending on if you have Power Text 2000 or Power Text 10,000, to ensure your renewal goes through. You can purchase your One Time PINS from this page http://www.kittywireless.com/pageplus/cards.html whenever you need them.

For instance, if your cash balance is $5.00, and you need $10.95 to renew your Power Text 2000 plan, you should add AT LEAST a $10.00 One Time PIN to bring your balance to $15.00.

This new development will require YOU to pull a line status on your line at least once a month, to check the cash balance, and refill it as appropriate. You can use our FREE REMINDERS Program located at http://www.kittywireless.com/pageplus/reminders.html to help keep you up to date whenever your cash balance drops below a certain level. Then, when our system reminds you, you can take action to replenish your cash balance.

We know this can be confusing, so if you have any questions on the right course of action for any of your particular accounts, please email support@kittywireless.com and we will give you the proper guidance on how to keep your Power Texting plan active.

Thanks for your understanding & cooperation.
