Oh Golly... we're averaging 150+ phone calls and emails per day about the Palm Pixi Plus, so, in the interest of efficiency, we are creating this info page!

We will update this page as often as we can with new information, instructions, etc.  PLEASE check our forums (there is a link at the bottom of this page) for the latest updates.

SHAME ON OTHER DEALERS!:  A few customers have brought it to our attention that a few other websites, so-called "dealers", have outright copied our guide to the Palm Pixi Plus.  We took HOURS to develop this guide, and we were the FIRST to put it online, and we find it absolutely LOW that other places would copy our work.  But y'know what they say, imitation is the best form of flattery - so we're flattered, but disgusted, at some other websites.  Sad, truly sad.

Before we move on, please read this:

Once your Palm Pixi Plus is activated, we ABSOLUTELY DO NOT recommend that you put it on the Standard Pay As You Go Plan.

Many folks WANT to put it on the $80/year plan, but more often than not, when we see people do that, we see them not knowing how to properly manage their data settings - and MANY of them lose their full $80 within a few days, because of background data usage.

Please, please, please, heed our warning on this.   Neither Kitty Wireless, nor Page Plus, are responsible if you add a cash card to your smartphone and lose your cash very quickly, because of not knowing how to manage data on your unsupported smartphone.

Smartphones are NOT meant for the Standard Pay As You Go Plan UNLESS you are going to ask Page Plus to disable data on your line ENTIRELY.

We recommend at least the Talk n Text 1200 $29.95/mo plan, which comes with 500mb-(TNT1200)of data, or the $55.00/mo plan, which comes with 2560mb of data, for all smartphone devices.

Q:  Do they work on Page Plus?

A:  Yes, they work fine.  All functionality - Talk, Text, Web & Data, from what we have seen, works fine.

Q:  Can I port a number from another carrier and put it on this Palm Device on Page Plus?

A:  Yes, you can.  You can port a number from any other carrier, specify it to be placed on this Palm, and then program it, do your test call, and purchase a plan.  Start by reading this page entitled "How do I begin?" by clicking here.

Q:  Can I disable my 3G Cellular Data on this Palm Pixi Plus and just use wifi internet, so I don't have to pay for data?

A:  Yes, you can.  See the big blue text at the bottom of this page for details on how to do that.

Q:  Do I have to activate it on OTHER NETWORK PROVIDER first, then move it over to Page Plus?

A:  Absolutely NOT. Do NOT activate it on OTHER NETWORK PROVIDER, do NOT contact OTHER NETWORK PROVIDER for assistance.  They will try to get you to go onto one of their plans.

Q:  Can I move my existing Page Plus Number from my old device to this Palm Pixi Plus?

A:  Yes, you can.  You just need to do an ESN Change, click here for information on doing that.  Once you have done the ESN Change you will need to follow the steps below to get it programmed.   The only thing you will NOT do during the guide below is press 1 to select English as your language - because your line was already previously activated, you don't have to do the part of Step 2 below.

Also, after an ESN Change, if your data does not work, you may want to call Page Plus at 800-550-2436 and ask them to "reset your data", by turning it off, and then back on again. Sometimes that helps.  KEEP IN MIND that these are UNSUPPORTED phones, so there is only so much you can ask them to do.

Q:  I've heard horror stories about people having trouble activating, programming & using these, what's the story?

A:  The Palm Pixi Plus, during the initial setup, will have you create a "Profile", before you can use your phone.  This is where it can get a little tricky.  Thanks for the wonderful feedback from other users, we have a guide on how to setup & program your Palm Pixi Plus.

THE STEPS FOR PROGRAMMING START HERE

A few tips before we get started.  If you are slow in entering information, or let you Palm sit for a few minutes between steps, the screen will turn off.  Just lightly press the power button to turn it back on, and continue where you left off.

1.  When you first turn your Palm Pixi Plus on, it will take about 2 minutes to start up.  You will see the Palm logo on your screen, glowing, until it is done booting up.

2.  It will then ask you to choose a language.  English or Spanish will appear on your screen.  Go ahead and tap the word English.

3.  It will then ask you to Confirm English, and give you a green checkmark button or a red X button.  If you are OK with english, tap the green checkmark button.

If you have any trouble at all programming your Palm Pixi Plus, Page Plus Cellular does have a special department that can help you, over the phone, with programming your device.  Please call 800-550-2436 and ask for the Manual Programming Department for assistance if necessary.

4.  It will then show "Setting Language", with a rotating circle on your screen.  Wait for that to complete.

5.  At the TOP of your screen you should see the words "Verizon Wireless" on the left, the time (it may be incorrect) in the middle, and then a signal & battery meter on the far right.  You may see a gray triangle followed by some signal bars as well.  This is normal at first.

NOTE:  If your Palm Pixi shows the word "Searching..." in the corner, it means it is not picking up native PagePlus Cellular signal.  We have a seen this defect in about 3-4% of the Palm Pixi Plus devices that we have seen.  This is a defect, and in this case you should return your Palm Pixi and swap it out for another.

6.  Your Palm Pixi Plus MUST have a phone number assigned to it before you can do any of these steps below.

7.  You can do a NEW ACTIVATION by clicking here.  (This will get you a brand new phone number for your device.)

8.  You can do an ESN CHANGE by clicking here.  (This will move an existing Page Plus number from one device to your new Palm Pixi Plus)

9. You can PORT IN an existing number from another carrier by clicking here.  (This will move a phone number from another carrier over to Page Plus and put it on your Palm Pixi Plus.)

10.  A screen will popup that says "Phone Activation".  It will say "Your phone will now call Verizon and automatically activate your phone.  Click Next to proceed."  Go ahead and tap NEXT.

11.  A screen will appear that says "Activating Phone" with a rotating circle.  You will hear music and you will be on hold and you will hear "Please continue to hold while your phone is being programmed."  This is normal.  This process will take about a minute.

12.  At the end of the process your phone screen should say "Phone Activated", with a blue check mark and a button that says next under it.

13.  Go ahead and tap that next button.  A screen will appear that says "Terms & Conditions For Palm webOS services."  Go ahead and tap the ACCEPT button.

14. The next screen will say "Palm Profile" at the top, with three buttons.  One button will say "Sign In To My Profile".  Another will say "Create New Profile".  And the last one will say "Tell Me More." DO NOT press ANY of these buttons.

If you do press the "more information" button by accident, or any other button, and your screen freezes, just remove your battery and restart your phone and start the process over.

You cannot setup the profile on your Palm Pixi Plus until you place one test call out. Data is not activated until this one test call is made.

16.  You will see a  little telephone icon down in the lower right hand corner of your screen.  Tap that and a menu will appear with three options:  Emergency Call, Call Customer Service or Cancel.

17.  Tap Emergency Call.  A screen will appear that has 911 at the top.  You want to erase that.  Use your "backspace" key on your keyboard to erase the 911.  The "backspace" key is the key directly below the letter "P" on your keyboard.

18.  Once you have cleared out the 911 by tapping the backspace icon with the X inside of it, enter *22890 and then tap the Green Phone Icon you see at the bottom of your screen.

19.  This will cause your phone to call and you will hear "Welcome to Over the Air Programming, please hold while we program your phone."  You will hear some music.  It should then say "Your phone has been programmed successfully."

Once this part is done, you now need to dial a local number by Tapping Emergency Call again, A screen will appear that has 911 at the top.  You want to erase that.  Use your "backspace" key on your keyboard to erase the 911.  The "backspace" key is the key directly below the letter "P" on your keyboard, and then, enter any local number with the full area code & phone number.   Tap the Green Phone Icon again and it should say "Connecting..." and the call should go through.

20.  If you activated a NEW NUMBER, or did a PORT IN REQUEST, on this Palm Pixi, you should hear "Welcome to your new Prepaid Wireless Service" in your phone - and it will guide you through a few steps.  You will need to press 1 for english, or 2 for Spanish, during this call, and you should let the call complete.  It will tell you that your balance is $2.00 and that your balance is low.  Go ahead and let the call go through.  If the number you are dialing does not ring, then the call has not completed and you cannot proceed to the next step.

If you have any trouble at all programming your Palm Pixi Plus, Page Plus Cellular does have a special department that can help you, over the phone, with programming your device.  Please call 800-550-2436 and ask for the Manual Programming Department for assistance if necessary.

21. If you did an ESN CHANGE on an existing PagePlus Number, to this new device, you may not have to go through this procedure step number 20 above.  It may just let your call go through, and that's a good thing!

22.  It will then bring you back to the Palm Profile Setup screen mentioned in Step 14 listed above.

23.  Most likely you do not already have a Palm Profile, so you should tap the "Create New Profile" button to create one.

24.  The next screen will say "New Profile" and it will ask you for your First & Last Name.  Go ahead and use the keyboard below and enter that now.  Once your name is entered, tap the NEXT button at the bottom of your screen.

25.  The next screen will say "Enter A Password", and there will be two fields.  You need to choose a password for your Palm Profile, and you need to enter it twice on this screen.  Go ahead and do that now.  As you type, you will see the letter appear.  But as you keep entering letters, the previous letters will turn to little "Dots" for security reasons.

If you want to use numbers in your password, you must press the button directly to the left of the letter "z" key and hold that down while you press a key that has a number on it.

If you want to use symbols in your password, you must press the button directly to the right of your "." (period) key and hold that down while you press a key that has a symbol on it.

If you have any trouble at all programming your Palm Pixi Plus, Page Plus Cellular does have a special department that can help you, over the phone, with programming your device.  Please call 800-550-2436 and ask for the Manual Programming Department for assistance if necessary.

Once you have entered your password in the first field, tap your finger on the second field to move down to that field to enter it again for confirmation purposes.

Once you have your password entered in both fields, tap the NEXT button at the bottom of your screen.  If both of your passwords match, the next screen you should see will ask you for your email address.  If your passwords DO NOT match, you will have to redo the steps above.

26.  The next screen you will see will say "Email Address" at the top and it will ask you to enter your email address twice for confirmation.  Using the same general idea from Step 25, go ahead and do that now.  To enter the @ symbol, use the key directly to the left of your spacebar.

Once you have your password entered twice in both fields, tap the NEXT button at the bottom of your screen.  If your address matches in both fields, the next screen you should see will say "Checking Email..." with a rotating circle.  Let it do that.  If your email addresses did not match, you will have to redo this step.

IF YOU GET "Sign In Failed", it is most likely that you need to get your data reset.  You should take your battery out, call 800-550-2436, and say this:  "I have a Palm Pixi Plus that I am trying to setup and I need to have my data reset.  I need you to turn off my web & picture messaging, and then turn it back on again for me, please."

If you have to do this, you will need to restart the Palm Profile Creation process with Step 22 above.

27.  The next screen you should see should ask you for your Security Question.  Tap the "Select A Question" drop down and choose a security question.  And then tap the ANSWER field and enter the answer to your Security Question.  You will need to remember this for future use, in case you ever forget your Palm Profile Password.

After choosing your Security Question, and entering the ANSWER, go ahead and tap the NEXT button.

The next screen you should see will say "Creating Profile..." with a rotating circle.  This is normal.

After this you will see a screen that says "Profile Created", with a blue checkmark, and some text for you to read.  Your Palm Profile Setup has now been completed.

The Palm Pixi will now take you through a series of steps, tutorials on who to use the touch screen.  Go ahead and do these (you have to anyway) and you will learn a lot from them.

Once the tutorials are done, it will show you a little video, and then it will automatically restart itself.  The restart process should take about a minute, and then it will come back online with your home screen at your view.

At this point, the GRAY Triangle you may have seen on your phone previous, at the top of the screen next to the signal bars, should be gone.  If it's still there, it means you are roaming, and your phone may not work correctly.

SAY "NO!" to any webOS Updates until you have 3G data off, and Wi-Fi turned ON!  Read on....

If your Palm Pixi asks you if you want to do a WebOS update, DECLINE it!  Say NO!  Your account only starts off with a $2.00 credit, and if you accept it, before loading a Talk n Text 1200 plan onto your line, your WebOS update will freeze and you will be stuck.

We HIGHLY recommend the Talk n Text 1200 plan for your Palm Pixi, at least for the first month, because Talk n Text 1200 comes with 500mb-(TNT1200) of data, which you WILL need your first month so you can do webOS updates, etc.  AND being on Talk n Text 1200 will help you while you are learning how to control data on your PIXI.  After your first month, once you have a control on your data and an idea of your usage, you could probably safely move to another plan - though Talk n Text 1200 is the safest plan for the Palm Pixi on Page Plus.

HOW TO TURN OFF YOUR DATA ON THE PALM PIXI PLUS

The MOST important thing you should learn how to do on your Palm Pixi Plus, immediately, is how to turn off the 3G Cellular Data.

To turn your data on or off, at your convenience:

1.  Tap the PHONE icon to open the dialer.

2.  Once open, look in the upper left hand corner of your screen and you should see a little down arrow appear next to the Verizon Wireless menu.  Touch the word Verizon Wireless and a drop down menu should appear.

3.  Tap on the word Preferences to open the Preferences menu.  Use your finger to scroll down and you will see an option that says "Data Usage".  It is probably ON by default.  Touch it to turn it off.

This is the easiest way for you to prevent any data from being used on your account when you do not want it to be used.  It is VERY important that you know how to do this, and that you do use this, on PagePlus to prevent loss of funds or data usage when you do not want it to happen.

That's it!  See below for other questions.

BEWARE OF THE FOLLOWING

If you ever have to reprogram your Palm Pixi using *22890 SEND or *228 SEND, your data will probably be toggled back ON without your knowledge.

For instance, let's say you activate a Palm Pixi Plus with a new number, try it out for a week, and then, port a number in from another carrier to put on that device.  Even if you had data turned OFF on the device before, after you put a new number on it, and reprogram it, your data will most likely be toggled back ON without you doing it or knowing about it.

Q:  Do I have to be on a monthly plan with Page Plus to use this device?

A:  No, you CAN be on the Standard Pay As You Go Plan.  Many customers want this device just for the PDA features of it, which is fine.  Page Plus does NOT require any special monthly plan for this device.  Keep in mind that, if you are on the Standard Plan, your data usage is billed at the rate of $0.99 per megabyte and will come out of your cash balance if you use any data.  Many people are not very familiar with the Palm Pixi when they first get it, so we recommend TURNING OFF YOUR DATA on your device (see step 5 above) after you complete the process above to protect yourself, and your cash balance, until you become more familiar with your device.

Q:  Are they a supported phone?

A:  NO.  If you have any problems with your Palm Pixi Plus, you should expect to be left to your own accord.  Do not let this scare you, so far they are working fine - though you might have a bit of a frustrating time getting it programmed, the profile created, etc. Most users seem to be very happy with the Palm Pixi Plus once they get over this hurdle.
